Bitcoin Amsterdam 2023: What Went Down

Fittingly, Bitcoin’s flagship conference of 2023 took place in the city that hosted the first ever stock exchange back in the 17th century…Amsterdam.

Now it’s come to a close, it’s safe to say that Bitcoin Amsterdam 2023 was an uplifting gathering of the world’s largest crypto community, who together were able to solidify their unparalleled trust in the OG of all cryptos.

The interactive two-day event was filled to the brim with in-depth interviews, presentations, networking events, and more… all centred around an array of pivotal topics such as future Bitcoin (BTC) use cases, privacy issues, the upcoming halving event, derivatives, and many (many) more.

Those hosting such activations included pioneers from all corners of the Bitcoin space, such as developers, investors, public advocates, and influential figures. More specifically, such list included the likes of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, author Balaji Srinivasan, and Bitcoin publishing royalty Adam Back and Dylan Leclair.

Although it’s impossible to list each and every talking point from the event, one of the most prevalent themes was Bitcoin’s most fierce competitor and threat when it comes to the future of finance…central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).

Additionally, the event uncovered inspirational stories that many of us would’ve been unbeknownst to, such as the fact that the Canadians who got their bank accounts frozen for supporting protesting truckers back in 2022 were able to continue doing so thanks to the powers of Bitcoin.

Amongst a myriad of alpha announcements, attendees were also able to get their first peek at new product launches, such as Trezor’s Safe 3 and Keep Metal hard wallet solutions.

When it comes to what our Head of Content Timo Busch got up to, he spent the two days in his native Amsterdam interviewing visitors, CEOs, speakers, and near-enough anyone else that was up for a chat.

This ultimately means that our subsequent content from the event (which you should keep your eyes peeled for in the coming days and weeks) will feature young, old, experienced, and novice Bitcoin maxis… something that we’re incredibly passionate about when it comes to highlighting the true ‘welcoming ethos’ of Bitcoin and the broader DeFi world.

In making Bitcoin Amsterdam 2023 the spectacular event it was, Timo reports that one of its most impressive elements was the seamlessness that came with navigating around the Westergas venue. In true Web3 style, this was made possible through an app that provided attendees with a timetable of what’s happening and where.

When it comes to future IRL Bitcoin and crypto events, you can certainly expect more of our worldwide team to be in attendance as we gear-up for the next Bitcoin halving event and crypto bull run.
